About Krakatau
Krakatau was established in 1999 in Saint Petersburg, Russia, where winter temperatures regularly drop below minus 20 degrees Celsius. That climate shaped the brand's DNA: every garment is engineered for genuine weather protection, not just the aesthetic of technical wear. The brand uses proprietary membrane fabrics, sealed seams, and insulation systems tested against the harsh conditions of northern Russia.
Over two decades, Krakatau has evolved from a domestic outerwear producer into an internationally distributed label stocked across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. The brand operates its own R&D facility where it develops proprietary fabrics, including waterproof membranes rated to 10,000mm water column resistance or higher. Production is vertically integrated, giving Krakatau direct control over material development through to final assembly.
